Speeding Ticket for Mobility Scooter

Mobility Scooter Speeding Ticket

A 74-year-old pensioner in the UK got the shock of his life when he received a speeding ticket for going 42 mph on his mobility scooter! And the best part is, the maximum speed for his scooter is only 8 mph!

James Roberts, 74, who says he was resting after triple heart surgery when the alleged speeding happened, received the letter from North Wales Police, which indicated the details and registration number of the motorised ‘Rascal’ vehicle, and suggested he had been travelling at 42mph on the 30mph A5151 London Road in Trelawnyd, Flintshire at 9.18pm on November 12.

His mobility scooter cannot go beyond 8 mph and does not have a license plate, so Mr Roberts had initially thought this to be a joke.

But apparently, it was caused by human error, due to a digit being entered wrongly into the system used to generate traffic summons. This error has since been rectified.
