Yes, the consequences could be severe if the elderly get knocked down by reckless e-scooter riders. Perhaps it is good that many of our elderly already have mobility scooters of their own?
Mobility scooters protect the elderly on all sides; a tiller in front, seat backrest on the rear, and armrests at the side. And they weigh much more than e-scooters, so (touch wood!) they are not likely to topple even in the event of a collision.
Still, we encourage all e-scooter users to ride responsibility and give way to pedestrians or mobility aid users who are slower than themselves.
